Welcome to the Diana Todd-Banks Show!
Di speaks with Lee Gerdes about neuro-technology and brainwave balancing.
In Today’s Episode, You Will Discover…
1. What do you mean by a balanced brain?
There are a lot of ways to think about a balanced brain, but one important aspect is balance in the autonomic nervous system. Science has shown that right side of the brain manages “fight-flight” response; left side manages “rest-digest-freeze.” In a balanced brain, neither of those sides is excessively dominant over the other.
2. What are examples of what happens when someone is imbalanced?
Someone with dominance of the fight-flight response may have a tendency for over-arousal, anxiety, high blood pressure. Someone with dominance of freeze response may be more emotionally numb, or be in more of a shut-down state.
3. How do people get unbalanced?
Accumulated stresses or trauma. There’s a psychologist named Stephen Porges who has explained that the highest level of the autonomic nervous system is to be in a self-calming mode, which keeps us relaxed and flexible, and makes social communication easier.
